Every career has defining moments, and this is one I’m deeply honoured to share.
I’m proud to announce that I’ve been nominated for the Women in Tech Community Award at the Women in Tech Global Awards 2025, a recognition that highlights leaders creating meaningful impact across the global tech ecosystem.
For me, this nomination represents far more than personal achievement. It reflects the mission I stand for: empowering non-traditional talent, elevating overlooked leaders, and proving that you don’t need a technical degree or a traditional pathway to shape the future of tech.
Why This Nomination Matters to Me:
For over a decade, I’ve built my career on one belief: Lateral talent isn’t a gap – it’s a strategic advantage.
From HR and compliance to marketing, operations, and project teams, I’ve seen first-hand how people from non-technical backgrounds bring the clarity, communication, and leadership desperately needed in cybersecurity, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.
Yet too often, these same people feel excluded from the “tech pipeline.”
This award nomination is a moment that recognises not only my work, but the work of every career changer, every emerging leader, and every organisation willing to invest in diverse, agile, real-world-ready talent.
How This Connects to My Work at Lateral Connect
As CEO of Lateral Connect, I remain committed to building alternative pathways into leadership, especially for those who don’t come from traditional tech routes.
Through the Lateral Connect Leadership Hub, we help professionals:
- Pivot confidently into cybersecurity and digital roles
- Build leadership mindset from day one
- Develop strategic visibility
- Lead transformation without “starting over”
- Step into high-trust positions by leveraging what they already know
This nomination shines a spotlight on the importance of this mission – and the global need for new leadership pipelines rooted in diversity, agility, and inclusion.
Women currently represent:
- 11% of executive roles in tech (2024)
- 15% of C-suite roles in major NASDAQ-100 tech companies
And in the era of AI and digital transformation, women remain significantly underrepresented in the development and leadership of emerging technologies.
Awards like this help change that.
They amplify voices, highlight new pathways, and show future generations, especially women and non-technical professionals, that they belong in tech leadership.
